Hennepin Technical College is among the communities and organizations to be recognized at a Beyond The Yellow Ribbon proclamation ceremony to be held May 17 at 6:45 p.m., preceding the St. Paul Saints baseball game at Midway Stadium in St. Paul. Gov. Mark Dayton will officially proclaim the newest Yellow Ribbon entities, which have earned recognition through efforts to support service members and military families.

HTC has established a veteran resource center and a veterans’ club at its Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie campuses, and also provides training for staff and faculty about reintegration and other issues faced by service members. In addition, the college has worked with the communities of Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie to assist them in becoming Yellow Ribbon communities.

Pioneered by the Minnesota National Guard, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a comprehensive program that creates awareness for the purpose of connecting service members and their families with community support, training, services and resources.
