Hennepin Technical College seeks a visionary leader to work with college faculty, staff, students, and the community to advance its mission of providing “excellence in career and technical education for employment and advancement in an ever-changing global environment.”

Hennepin Technical College is the largest technical college in Minnesota, offering more than 50 career and technical programs on its newly remodeled campuses in the suburban Minneapolis cities of Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie. The success of the college’s mission is demonstrated by a job placement rate of 97%.

The college’s top four majors by enrollment are practical nursing, computer system network administration, automobile/automotive, and law enforcement. The college is especially noted for its ten manufacturing programs, which include the largest machining program in the state and a fluid power program that incorporates hands-on research and development opportunities.

Minnesotan corporations and industries have strong ties to Hennepin Technical College. These relationships boost Minnesota’s economy by closing the skills gap and provide unique benefits to the college. Corporate and industry partners help fund student scholarships, provide state-of-the-art training and lab equipment, and offer career opportunities to the college’s graduates.

Hennepin County (population 1.2 million) encompasses Minneapolis and its surrounding suburbs. The Twin Cities metro area consistently ranks high in quality of life surveys, with a relatively low cost of living and notable attractions including the arts, lakes, parks, and national sports franchises.

Hennepin Technical College is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system (MnSCU). With 24 two-year colleges and seven state universities, MnSCU is the largest provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota. Under the leadership of Chancellor Steven Rosenstone, MnSCU is committed to ensuring access to an extraordinary education for all Minnesotans; being the partner of choice to meet Minnesota’s workforce and community needs; and delivering to students, employers, communities, and taxpayers the highest value, most affordable option.

Reporting to the chancellor, the president of Hennepin Technical College serves as chief executive officer responsible for leading the faculty and staff in fulfilling the college’s mission. The president serves on the system’s leadership council, which consists of the chancellor, the chancellor’s cabinet, and the 31 college and university presidents. As a member of the leadership council, the president contributes to the overall direction of the nation’s fifth-largest system of higher education.

The successful candidate will be a strong leader and proponent of the technical college mission, with a demonstrated commitment to student success. While progressive responsibility in higher education administration is desirable, comparable experience in business, government, etc. will be considered. A terminal degree is preferred but not required.
