Work Study

A workstudy award allows a student to apply to get an on-campus job that pays $10.50 per hour.  The funds are awarded on a first come, first serve basis and employment is not guaranteed, nor is there a guarantee that, if hired, the full award will be earned. Steps to find available postions:

  1. Click on Student Employment positions above
  2. Click on Students
  3. If this is your first time looking for student employment, click on "Create Account" to complete the registration or provide your User ID and password and then click "Sign In"
  4. From your dashbord Click on "Search-My School's Jobs"
  5. Click on "View Jobs by Keywords"
    1. Type BPC-HTC for jobs at Brooklyn Park Campus
    2. Type EPC-HTC for jobs at Eden Prairie Campus
  6. Click on the job title to open up the details about how to apply.

Steps to apply for a workstudy or student employee position:

  1. Complete the Student Employment Application and submit it to the hiring supervisor.
  2. Hiring supervisor will contact student for an interview.
  3. If hired, the student and hiring supervisor discuss position duties, terms and conditions, confidentiality, and will complete the following forms:
    • Student Employment Application (completed by student)
    • Employment Work History or Resume (if required by supervisor)
    • Printout of Financial Aid Workstudy Award from student's eServices account
    • Student Employment Hiring Form (completed by hiring supervisor)
    • W-4 form
    • Printout of position description
  4. Student makes an appointment with the Financial Aid Advisor to complete process.
    • Student submits completed paperwork from hiring supervisor and student.  Incomplete forms will not be accepted and will be returned to the hiring supervisor to be completed.
    • 1-9 verification:  Identity documentation is required for the I-9 Form.  Please see the I-9 Form for a list of acceptable documents that you will need to bring along at your appointment. 
    • Financial Aid Advisor confirms all forms are completed and sends to payroll for processing.
  5. Payroll will notify the hiring supervisor when student may begin work.
  6. Student submits time worked on eTimesheet in eServices.
  7. Supervisor approves time worked.
  8. Pay is issued. Students can enroll in direct deposit in their eServices account.
  9. Hiring supervisor will complete a Student Employee Job Performance Assessment at some point during employment.
