What is IPC J-Standard Soldering?

It’s known in the industry as IPC J-STD-001 and it’s the most widely recognized industry credential for solderers. This program covers the requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies.

Achieving this level of certification opens many more opportunities than just on-the-job training. Job seekers with this level are hard to come by and employers are scrambling to find them.


What is required of a solderer?

Soldering involves knowledge of technical skills and the following aptitudes and abilities:
•  Fine motor skills (good hand dexterity)
•  Ability to read schematics
•  Basic math/reading skills
