The first Phlebotomy Seminar hosted by Hennepin Technical College - Customized Training Services was a success. Seminar attendees included Nurses, Phlebotomists, medical and lab assistants and supervisory staff.
The October 10, 2014 event was held at the Brooklyn Park Campus, and showcased Dennis J. Ernst MT (ASCP), Executive Director, Center for Phlebotomy Education, Inc. to our seminar. He presented on topics ranging from customer service, technique, safety, strategies for sample collection and assuring sample quality.
Amy S. Tolbert, Ph. D., CSP, ECCO International principal, also presented on effective communication styles, with the focus on three important areas: understanding, principles and observable behaviors. Both presenters and topics were well recived, and feedback about the seminar has been positive.

Learn about our Phlebotomy Technician Program
The Phlebotomy Technician program is not just about the "technical" perspective of learning a new skill, it combines different aspects of learning to better interact with patients; colleagues and others while maintaining a professional appearance. The art of phlebotomy is understanding the non-verbals a patient may give, and reacting to that so that the patient may have a pleasant experience, in addition, collecting good samples for testing. Phlebotomy is a puzzle, with many pieces...and each piece has it's own importance; ultimately resulting in the treatment of patients...The program at HTC taps into each piece of that puzzle, with adapting to the different learning styles needed for each student.
