GEAR UP: GAINING EARLY AWARENESS AND READINESS FOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

Purpose:

The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a discretionary grant program designed to increase the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post secondary education. GEAR UP serves the entire eighth grade student cohort at Fridley Middle School and Robbinsdale Middle School.  GEAR UP started with students in seventh grade and will follow that cohort through high school and into their 1st year of college.


Objectives:

  • Objective 1: Increase the academic performance and preparation for post-secondary education for GEAR UP students
  • Objective 2: Increase the rate of high school graduation and participation in post-secondary education for GEAR UP students
  • Objective 3: Increase GEAR UP students' and their families' knowledge of post-secondary education options, preparation, and financing
