Positions: TRIO Peer Tutors for the following subjects: Pharmacology, Physics, Writing/Reading (developmental through college level), Solid Works, Biology, Psychology
Description: Work-study/student worker peer tutors will provide individual or small group tutoring to a variety of students, especially students with academic disadvantages. In addition, peer tutors will:  Keep electronic records (tutoring log) of material covered with each student  Update TRIO staff of student progress and/or missing tutoring sessions  Gain comprehensive understanding of the TRIO programs  Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Must possess strong leadership qualities and ability to function as a team player. Also important: -Must have an instructor recommendation with a proven record of helping students - Must be in good academic standing (cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher) - Experience working with a diverse range of students and staff with a wide range of skills and learning styles -Ability to work well 1:1 coaching other students (guiding and providing feedback while also motivating) - Dependability and promptness - Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions which may involve policy and procedural interpretations -Uses tact, discretion and has excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision - Willing to work flexible hours - Must show enthusiasm and a positive attitude - Being open to feedback - Must be able to handle stress - Being patient
