Machine Tool Technology & Quality Assurance program overview

In HTC's Machine Tool Technology & Quality Assurance program, you will develop a strong understanding of machining as you gain hands-on experience on the industry's most up-to-date tools and equipment for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) or Tool and Die/Moldmaking. As a skilled machinist able to follow specifications, you will be ready to create quality products and make the most of innovative technology. At HTC, you will develop the skills and craftsmanship that lead to precision work, and then you will be on your way to a valuable well-paying career in this exciting field. There is particular demand in the medical device field.

job Outlook

Manufacturing is on the upswing. There is a need for skilled labor in all phases of production. In the metro area, there is particularly high demand within the medical device industry currently at least 60% of HTC graduates find work in this industry.

Possible job titles include: Machinist, CNC Operator, CNC Setup, CNC Programmer, Quality Assurance Inspector, Swiss Operator, Tool and Die Maker, Moldmaker, Pattern Maker

Industry partners

HTC's advisory committee is made up of local manufacturers, vendors, and active alumni. Membership includes corporate representatives from Graco, Kurt Manufacturing, Mate Tool, Lowell Engineering, Entegris, and David Olson Sales. The committee meets annually to review curriculum and shop operations to insure relevancy.

Accreditation and Affiliations

HTC is a nationally accredited member of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. It offers vocational certifcates, diplomas, degrees and transfer curriculum to other MnSCU institutions. NIMs certification is also available through HTC's Customized Training Services.

HTC is an authorized Haas Tech Center and is an active member in the Minnesota Precision Manufacturing Association. It also offers training through Immersive Software and Tooling U and specialized training through Customized Training Services.
