OVERVIEW
Do you want to turn your interest in boats and motorcycles into a career? Then HTC’s Marine/Motor Sports Technology program can help you move in the right direction. As a marine/motor sports technician, you’ll troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul engines and equipment found in the boating, snowmobile, motorcycle, lawn and garden and industrial engine industries. In this program, you’ll gain the knowledge and hands-on experience you need to move ahead.
LABS AND CLASSROOMS
Most classes have a lab component and the lab is open for work during class hours and days.
SUPPLIES/TOOLS
The student will be required to furnish their own tools for the course. A tool list is available from the program instructors or the HTC counseling office. HTC hosts tool vendors one day the first week of school to allow students to order tool at a significant discount.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma placement scores on entrance exam.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The working environment is varied according to the trade area and employer. Some work may be outside and in varied weather conditions. Most work is in a shop enviroment.
JOB OUTLOOK
Job outlook for technicians in this area is extremly good due to the economy motivating more people to repair rather than replace equipment.
