HENNEPIN TECHNICAL COLLEGE BEGINS MAJOR REMODELING AT BROOKLYN PARK AND EDEN PRAIRIE CAMPUSES
Hennepin Technical College will undergo major improvements through construction at its campuses in Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie with work divided into three phases over about 18 months.
The project will consolidate services for students into one central location at each campus and improve the physical spaces for the library and academic support services. The scope also includes a relocated main entrance, and related site improvements along with updated mechanical and electrical systems.
“Students will benefit from having one central location for accessing services, including admissions, placement testing, registration, counseling and financial aid,” said Diane Paulson, vice president of administrative services at HTC. In addition, library space will be enlarged, there will be study rooms for small group work, and a learning commons area next to the library will offer increased access to technology. Overall, the remodeling will result in updated spaces with increased natural light.
The project includes renovation of approximately 37,880 square feet as well as an addition of 2,300 square feet at the main entrance area to each campus. Construction will take place simultaneously at both campuses.
