Options for Funding Your Tuition

At Hennepin Technical College, we realize that many students are concerned about how to pay for their education. That’s why we try to make applying for financial aid as easy to understand as possible. There are a variety of options available to students, including federal and state financial aid, work study programs, student loans, veteran’s benefits and scholarships. Financial aid is available for both full-time and part-time students who have declared a major and have met other eligibility requirements. Here’s how it works. To be considered for financial aid, file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov (school code 010491).

When HTC receives the FAFSA information, the college might request additional information from you, such as tax forms. After your application is reviewed, you’ll receive an award letter detailing any financial aid you’ll be awarded, as well as information about work study and student loan programs.

For more information about receiving financial aid at HTC, visit the Financial Aid section of our web site.

Third Party Authorization
The third party billing process allows agencies and employers to pay a student’s educational costs. The student is responsible for ensuring their agency or employer has submitted an authorization to HTC by the tuition payment deadline. HTC does not accept authorizations that require course completion or a certain grade to be achieved for payment. For more information visit the Third Party Payment section of our web site.

Veterans
Veterans seeking to use their education benefits will need to complete the application material and notify the college when they’re enrolled. The Department of Veterans Affairs determines eligibility for the benefit and the school certifies enrollment. More information about veterans education benefits can be found at the VA Web Site or at Veterans Benefits at HTC. To notify the school of enrollment call the Brooklyn Park Campus at (763) 488-2491 or the Eden Prairie Campus at (952) 995-1471.

Scholarships
Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships. The scholarship awards are based on both performance and/or financial need. Application forms and a list of the available scholarships may be obtained from the Financial Aid Office and on the HTC web site. Students must fill out a FAFSA to qualify for a scholarship.
