Field Trips
Policy 01.03

POLICY STATEMENT

Field trips should relate directly to course objectives. Field trips provide an excellent strategy to relate instructional programs to business and industry in the community. Field trips in this procedure refer to any temporary off-campus class site designated by the instructor.

IMPLEMENTATION PROCEDURE

Supervision and Approval
All college sponsored trips require adequate supervision by HTC faculty. Written permission from parents or guardians of minor students is required for all trips including day trips, overnight trips, trips outside of the state, and trips using other than common carriers. High school students participating in a field trip must obtain written permission from their home high school prior to the field trip. Use of forms provided by the college to obtain proper authorization for field trips is required.

Transportation for Field Trips is Arranged as Follows:

  1. Campus Programs:
  1. Instructor completes Request for Field Trip Transportation form.
  2. The form is forwarded to business manager’s office.
  3. Business manager's office arranges for transportation.
  1. Off-campus Programs:
  1. Instructor completes requisition form.
  2. The instructor arranges for transportation.

The use and or possession of alcoholic beverages or illegal mood modifying substances are not allowed on school premises or field trips. Violators of this state statute rule are subject to penalties as prescribed by law.
