Culinary Competition Offers Free Tuition

BROOKLYN PARK & EDEN PRAIRIE, MINN. – Hennepin Technical College (HTC) Culinary Arts program will host a competitive cooking event for high school students interested in pursuing a culinary career. The event will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Eden Prairie Campus (13100 College View Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55347). Scholarships of $1500, $1000 and $500 will be awarded to the top 3 contestants. To enter the competition, students must complete a 300-word essay telling why they are interested in entering the culinary field and in particular why they are interested in enrolling at HTC. Twenty students will be selected to compete in the contest. Essays are due April 15, 2008. Scholarships will be awarded by the Hennepin Technical College Foundation.

During the competition, contestants will have an hour and a half to prepare an entrée that includes a starch and two vegetables.
