Marty Patterson named interim president at Hennepin Technical College
BROOKLYN PARK & EDEN PRAIRIE, MINN. – Marvin (Marty) Patterson has been appointed by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees as interim president of Hennepin Technical College, Minnesota’s largest technical college, which has campuses in Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie and a Customized Training Center in Plymouth. He replaces Kathryn Jeffery, who resigned to take another position.
Patterson has been with the college since 1972, most recently serving as senior dean of instruction. He began his career at HTC as an instructor, and has held posts including student services supervisor, campus director, campus chief executive officer and vice president for academic affairs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics education from the University of South Dakota.
“Working with the staff and students is the best part of being at the college,” said Patterson of his three decades at HTC. “The staff is devoted, dedicated and focused on preparing students for successful careers. It’s great to be part of that effort.”
Under the Board of Trustees’ policy, an interim president cannot be considered for the permanent presidency. A search committee for a new president will be appointed and Patterson will serve until a new president is appointed.
