DARS
Degree Audit Reporting System
What is DARS and how will it help me?
DARS is a computer based system that lists the college requirements
for your program of study and helps you plan and monitor progress by:
- Identifying all the requirements needed to complete your
specific program
- Indicating courses you have already completed, at Hennepin
Technical College and how they pertain to your requirements, and
- Specifying what you still need to complete your program and the
courses from which you may select to satisfy each requirement.
The DARS audit is designed to help you identify
and understand your current academic requirements for program
completion. We think you will find the DARS audit simple to read and
understand.
Will DARS replace my advisor?
DARS is a tool designed to assist advisors and students and enhance
the advising process. The audit will help you select courses and
participate in building your academic schedule. It displays your
progress at any point in your program.
The audit will help your advisor anticipate and
resolve any problem areas and provide further academic and career
counseling.
The Registrar's Office will make the final
decision for graduation in all circumstances.
What DARS is not!
The DARS audit is not a transcript. It is not intended to report
student achievement to outside parties. Federal law prohibits
transmission to a third party.
It Is your responsibility to complete all
requirements for the selected program whether or not they have been
identified on the HTC DARS audit. You are encouraged to review your
college catalog or academic planning guide and report any inaccuracies
found on your HTC DARS audit to your academic advisor.
How do I obtain a DARS audit online?
- Online audits may be run only once per day.
- You may only obtain an audit based on your current declared
major at HTC.
1. Access a
DARS audit - My HTC Login
2. Log in: To log in you need to enter
your 8-digit Student/Tech ID and your 6-digit PIN number. Then click
the "Login Now" button.
Your initial PIN was set to either your birth
date or the last 6 digits of your social security number. For example,
if your birth date is May 18, 1978, your PIN would be 780518.
If you have never changed your PIN, you must
change it now. Enter your current 6-digit PIN. Next, enter your new
6-digit PIN. Finally, re-enter the new PIN for verification. Click the
"Change" button. Note: Whenever you wish to change your PIN, select
"Change PIN" from the blue box on the left side of the screen and
follow the instructions above. Once you change your PIN it will not
change unless YOU change it. You will not be able to obtain this
number from faculty, counselors or other staff. If you lose or forget
your PIN it must be reset. It can be reset by the Registration Office.
3. To access your DARS audit, click on the
Student tab.
