| This course includes practical applications of basic algebra from signed numbers through solving and graphing equations plus solving systems of equations and formulas with applied problems. | |||

Course Goals |

|
The following goals will be addressed in the course. Solve problems using scientific notation Factor algebraic expressions Solve linear equations and inequalities Simplify polynomial expressions by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing Solve rational equations Solve systems of linear equations Calculate the slope of a line Graph linear equations by plotting points and by using the slope-intercept method Graph linear inequalities Simplify radical expressions using adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing Solve radical equations Solve quadratic equations Graph non-linear equations |

Course Scheduling |

The scheduled hours of instruction include fifteen-sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty - thirty-two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the "Course Credits" section of this syllabus for the credit breakdown. |
