 Course Description

The Fire Officer II is a mid-level supervisor who performs both supervisory and first-line managerial functions and who has met the requirements for Fire Officer I. Study will focus in the area of Human Resource Management, Community and Government Relations, Inspection and Investigation, Emergency Service Delivery, Health and Safety.

 Course Goals

The following goals will be addressed in the course:
Apply actions to maximize member performance
Develop a policy or procedure
Prepare a project or divisional budget
Administer the procedures for conducting fire inspections
Determine the point of origin
Analyze an accident
Evaluate job performances
Produce operational plans
Prepare a concise report
Conduct a post-incident analysis

 Course Scheduling

The scheduled hours of instruction include fifteen-sixteen hours for each lecture credit, thirty - thirty-two hours for each lab credit and forty hours for each credit of supervised occupational experience (SOE). Lecture credit may include formal or impromptu lectures, demonstrations or discussions with the entire class or with small groups or individuals. Refer to the "Course Credits" section of this syllabus for the credit breakdown.
