Alumni Events

In February, HTC's Office of Institutional Advancement took three alumni reunions on the road. HTC administrators, faculty and staff met with HTC alumni who work at MTS Systems Corporation in Eden Prairie and The Hartfiel Company in Eden Prairie for pizza luncheons and MGS Machine Corp. in Maple Grove for a continental breakfast. The graduates were mostly from Fluid Power Engineering Technology and Automation Robotics Engineering Technology (formerly Automated Packaging); however, some alumni were from Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Machine Tool Technology and Banking Careers.

Thank you to Ernie Parker, Bob Yund, Bill Martin, Tom Gillespie, Larry Selin, Lisa Larson, Jason Burrows and President Kathryn Jeffery for participating in these outreach activities. Former faculty and advisory committee members also attended the reunions.

The alums had a great time and many learned that people they had worked with for years were HTC graduates like themselves. Thank you to the owners and managers of the companies visited for their support of their employees by allowing work time for staff participation.

A chief operating officer from MGS offered the following compliment:

"For many years, Technical Colleges were looked upon as the "blue collar" schools and shunned by many who would have been better benefited by attending a Tech College than a 4 year institution. From my and MGS's perspective, the products/students produced by the Hennepin Technical College are truly professionals. Yes, they are trained in a trade but they come with a level of skill a baccalaureate program can not offer. These students have a very well rounded education and they are immediate contributors to society. It is imperative these folks are confident in the fact they are PROFESSIONALS."

"President Jeffery, thank you for helping to promote a confident persona in HTC students and among the faculty and staff."

If you are interested in having HTC host an alumni reunion at your company, please contact Jeanne Morphew at 763-488-2503 or jeanne.morphew@hennepintech.edu.
