Construction Project 2011-2013

JANUARY 2012 UPDATE
The General Contractor and major subcontractors such as the mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, fire sprinkler) and electrical have mobilized on site.

Inside the college, temporary partitions have been built to separate construction traffic from campus activities.

Small view windows have been installed in the partitions so anyone can keep an eye on the construction progress.

Exterior fencing has been placed to designate the contractor staging area (dumpsters, deliveries, construction materials) as well as the designated areas for exterior demolition and construction.

Safety and directional signs are being installed and will be updated and modified as appropriate

Demolition is about 50% complete

CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION OVERVIEW
The Hennepin Technical College Construction Project 2011-2013 includes remodeling of existing spaces at both the Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie campuses. The Project will consolidate services for students into one central location and improve the physical spaces for the library and academic support services. The scope also includes a relocated main entrance, related site improvements along with updated mechanical and electrical systems. The overall design concept for the project mirrors recent college remodel projects by adding extensive glass walls and dramatically improving the amount of transparency and daylight.

The Project includes the renovation of approximately 37,880 square feet as well as an addition 2,300 square feet at the main entrance area to each campus. The Project will be executed simultaneously at each campus, in 3 Phases, spread over about 18 months.
