Welcome to Hennepin Technical College!

Welcome
Hennepin Technical College is committed to creating a learning environment that empowers students to become contributing members of an increasingly multicultural and diverse society. We encourage students of all cultural backgrounds to apply for admissions to HTC. We have provided this page in multiple languages to help non-English speaking students get started at HTC. Please note: this page is an introduction; it is intended to be a starting point for students who may be interested in attending the college. More information about the college, its programs and services are available by visiting the school and meeting with the multi-cultural advisor.

What is Hennepin Technical College?
Hennepin Technical College provides hands-on training for employment. The college offers a wide variety of degrees, diplomas and certificates in technical areas. Hennepin Technical College is conveniently located in Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie. See the HTC Maps and Locations page for details. Students are able to take a public bus to either campus.

Hennepin Technical College offers 45 programs in these career areas:

  • Business and Computers
  • Construction and Building
  • Floral and Landscaping
  • Health
  • Manufacturing and Electronics
  • Media Communications
  • Service

  • Programs at HTC can be completed in two years or less. Students can attend full-time, part-time or one course at a time. Courses are offered during the day or in the evening. For programs offered at HTC, see the Majors and Careers section.

The college wants the students to be successful in their coursework, therefore HTC requires all students to complete a Placement Test. The Placement Test is not a pass or fail test. It consists of basic math and reading questions that will help our college place you in appropriate courses to help you succeed in college. Visit the Placement Testing page for more information. Each student will meet with a counselor following the placement test. The counselor will review your test scores with you and discuss your educational and career goals. They will also provide you with information about free tutoring services and Disability accommodations, as well as various student clubs and organizations.

It is easy to get started at HTC. Just follow these few easy steps:

    1. Request an information packet
    2. Visit the campus for a tour
    3. Complete the application for admission
    4. Apply for Financial Aid

HTC welcomes new and transferring international students. Currently HTC has international students from 25 different counties. The international student application, checklist and procedure can be found on-line at International Student Admissions Page.

HTC offers an extensive ELL (English Language Learner) program. The ELL program helps students learn English to prepare them for college coursework in their area of interest. General Education, Developmental, and ELL courses can be found on the HTC Course Schedule Page.

    Paying for College
HTC has one of the lowest tuition costs in the metro area and the college offers many options for students to help pay for college. HTC awards many students financial aid though grants, loans and scholarships. The college also offers work study and student worker positions available for students who want to work on campus before or after classes. HTC Financial Aid also offers a tuition payment plan.
