What is Girls GET IT!
Girls Grow with Engineering, Technology, and Industrial Technology!
is a new summer camp that introduces girls to the fun, thrills, and
excitement of the world of engineering and technology.
Girls learn about careers in
engineering and technology through a combination of hands on
activities, presentations, and discussions.
Topics covered in our inaugural camp
include engineering design competitions with LEGO™ and mouse-trap
vehicles, lessons in computer aided design and manufacturing, working
with electro-mechanical robots, hands-on electronics labs, building
fluid-powered robots and lab sessions on plastic injection molding and
precision machining technologies.
Each day starts with a technology
focused team building activity, and ends with discussion of careers
that incorporate the technologies explored during the day.
Who can attend Girls GET IT!
Girls now completing 9th grade, and entering 10th grade this fall,
are eligible to attend.
What is the cost?
This is a free camp! Lunch and snacks are also provided! However,
you will need to have your own transportation to and from the HTC
Brooklyn Park Campus, located at the intersection of Highway 169 and
Brooklyn Boulevard, or the HTC Eden Prairie Campus located at Highway
212 and College View Drive. Maps and directions to
both campuses.
Girls GET IT! is hosted and
sponsored by Hennepin Technical College, with additional funding from
the Minnesota Center for Engineering & Manufacturing Excellence.
